Work With A Floral Designer Who Has A Passion For What They Do.

As a child, I love watching my parents take care of their flowers and edible garden. Raindrops on Roses Floral Design came into being when I decided to combine work and my passion for flowers. I’m having so much fun and have never looked back!

Q:  What can a bride expect from a consultation with you for her wedding?

A: Weddings are exciting, emotional, and sometimes overwhelming. A wedding floral consultation will allow the bride-to-be to get to know me, and vice versa. Any questions she may have are answered. Based on what we discuss, I can suggest flowers that are suitable for the Bride’s theme, style and budget.  A lot of ideas, and especially pictures (and sometimes fabrics) are exchanged. Afterwards, a proposal is created and includes flower photos, arrangement sample photos; as well as full price breakdown.

Q: How do you help the bride figure out a budget or stick to her budget?

A: A budget discussion is a must-have during the consultation. I help the Bride choose the right flowers to fit within her budget or provide practical ideas on how she can achieve her vision.  If the Bride wishes for certain flowers, then I can suggest how to best use those flowers effectively to maximize its value.  A lot of times, flowers for ceremony (including bouquets) can be reused during reception.

Q: Where does a bride start when it comes to figuring out the bouquet?

A: I would advise them to choose their favourite bouquet pictures found online and then show them to me. While most flowers are available year round, flowers in season are usually bigger, better, more beautiful, as well as more affordable.

Wedding Dress Style Guide 101

THE SILHOUETTE

A-Line This dress shape has a tailored bodice, which gradually flares from the waist and provides a flattering look for a variety of body types.

Ball Gown This dress type has a fitted bodice with a very filled skirt that is typically floor length.

Empire This style of dress has a high waistline located right under the bust. Typically recommended for petite brides simply because it offers the illusion of a lengthened body.

Trumpet This dress is narrow shaped and shows off every curve flaring put right before the knee highlighting a woman’s hips!

Sheath A lot like the Trumpet style, this dress is also a narrow shaped fit that hugs the curves well suited for the well-proportioned bride with a feminine, sleek figurThe Neckline

The Neckline

Portrait A wide and soft style, which wraps from one tip of the shoulder to the other. This neckline cut showcases specifically the collarbone and can also extend off the shoulders for dramatic flair.

Bateau Also known as “boat”, this style runs straight across, right below your collarbone to the tips of your shoulders.

Dipped This neckline is slightly curved above each breast, but is not as dramatic as the Sweetheart style neckline.

Halter The bodice ends in straps that wrap around the back of your neck, very ideal for taller brides with broad shoulders.

Sweetheart This neckline is shaped like the top of a heart, with a curve over each breast dipping to a V in the middle. Very well suited for heavy-chested brides and has the affect of making the neck elongated.

Cowl Neck This neckline has fabric drapes loosely around the neck, creating a romantic, gathered look at the bust.

Plunging Known as the dramatic neckline that drops to the middle of the chest or lower.

Scoop A Classic neckline that takes shape of a U, which can be either modest or dramatic.

The Train

Chapel Slightly shorter than Cathedral extending about three feet behind you.

Cathedral A dramatic, lengthy style that extends up to six feet behind you. Often comes with a detachable option.

Brush The shortest train attached to your waist just barely touching the floor.

Court Slightly shorten than the Chapel, this train begins at the waist and descends just to the floor or one foot behind you.

Chiffon Light and sheer, often layered with other fabrics
